So have your object either as a single shape (you can merge multiple objects by pressing Ctrl + "+"). Make sure your main object is ungrouped (groups won't work with this).For some reason this extruding method won't work with groups. NOTE: It doesn't work with circles for some reason. There are way too many tutorials out there for that kind of stuff that we don't need another. If you don't know how to draw shapes or enable the grid or snap to the grid, Google is your friend. Please keep in mind that this is ONLY showing you how to make the shadow. It's also vector based which really helps with logo creation. It's free to use and is supported on Windows, Linux and OSX.
